Jorge Zamora: who loves the Marine Corps?
The United States Marine Corps is one of the toughest military branches there is. There was an old cadences about the marine corps “Back in 1775 mama marine corps came alive fist came the color gold to show the world that we are bold, then came the color blue to show the world that we are true, then came the color red to show the world the blood we shed, then came the color green to show the world the we are mean left left lefty right left”. The Marine Corps motto is semper fi it means “always faithful”.
When I first talk to a Marine Corps recruiter his name is sergeant gaskins he asked me a lot of questions, he is really tough and loud and the first time when I PT (physical training) with him he put me on my knees cues I was tired and I thought it was going to be easy because I was in the ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) and we ran for miles and did different exercise and there was other guys too, we PT for hours some of us slowed down and caught up but he keeps on running and running and when we finish PT he said “I will take 4 vocabulary words away from you and they were if, maybe, but, and cannot”. And when he hears those words from yours mouth and caught you, you will do about 100 push-ups and that is all he said to us to go home and will see us next PT.
In the future I plan to be in the infantry. It will take a lot of work to get there. I just need to pass a test like the PFT (physical fitness test). All I need is to keep it together and help everybody else that’s why it’s called “leave no men behind”. The only thing that will be hard is boot camp because people say that they will get on you if you try to be the top dog or trying to be funny and what not. Boot camp will be tough and the only thing you can say is “sir yes sir”, “sir no sir” or “maim yes maim”, “maim no maim” those are the only thing you can say to the drill instructor and the day you get on the bus and arrive there they will yell at you and make you and stand at attention and you have to move fast and be loud and whatever you do, do not mess up because the recruits will hurt you in any way they can even at night you have to learn the general orders to the sentry and the chain of command.
